A Message From The Associate Vice President

Dr. Heather Gibbons

Welcome!

Brenau University offers you online classes via the internet, purely online with no on-campus requirement. This format is particularly suited to those of us who work full or part-time, travel often, or have other constraints keeping us out of the traditional classroom. Online education allows you to better your life while you’re living it!

Online classes are offered within two 7-week sessions Fall and Spring semesters; and in the Summer, online classes last 6 weeks each. The compressed nature of online necessarily increases the rigor of the courses. Remember, online is more convenient, but not easier. You should plan to commit a minimum of 12 - 15 hours per week to each online class in which you are enrolled. You’ll have no problem meeting the attendance requirement of 5 of 7 days each week once you begin.

Our philosophy and approach to online classes promote collaborative learning. Students bring life and work experiences to the virtual classroom and are able to share these with classmates, enriching the discussion that centers on course materials. Group assignments allow you to participate on virtual teams, something that is more and more common for professionals today.

I wish you success as you work admirably to further your education. It may seem difficult to make the decision to get started, but there’s no time like the present. It will challenge you, but it will also be exhilarating! George Eliot wrote, “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” It’s also never too early...

Heather
