Advance your design skills by conducting evidence-based research and developing your own undergraduate course through Brenau’s Master of Interior Design. Through 11 flexible courses, you’ll receive a balanced master’s-level education built on research and real-world experience by faculty members who are professional interior designers.
As an Interior Design student, you’ll complete a teaching practicum that allows you to put your lessons into practice by developing and teaching an undergraduate interior design course. You can personalize your degree by proposing a concentration based on your interests and career goals. Under the direction of the faculty, student is responsible for preparing and teaching an undergraduate interior design course.
Prerequisite(s): ID 660
A practical exploration of instructional methods and teaching material development for interior design educators in both online and on-ground environments. Topics include delivery modalities, lecture and studio teaching strategies, presentation and instructional material design, online course organization and management, assessment mechanics, and professional responsibilities. Students develop a portfolio of teaching materials culminating in a complete course unit. To be taken concurrently with ID 660 Interior Design Classroom Preparation.
Research/Thesis
Credits
Research study conducted under the direction of the faculty and reading committee. Development of proposal for thesis topic and selection of reading committee. Includes development of annotated bibliography, literary review and thesis outline.

Research study conducted under the direction of the faculty and reading committee. Continued support of research process with particular emphasis on data collection analysis and draft of thesis.
Prerequisite(s): ID 701

Research study conducted under the direction of the faulty and reading committee. Continued support of research process with particular emphasis on thesis defense and final submission. This course may be repeated until the student orally defends the thesis, makes required revisions, and submits thesis for binding.

Individual design studio developed to meet student needs in conjunction with faculty. Includes advanced problem analysis and design solutions. May dovetail into existing studios.

This course is adapted to fit the needs of graduate interior design students who have special interests in a particular subject. Faculty members will develop the curriculum based on the students’ needs and/or faculty’s particular interest.
Note(s): May be repeated for credit for up to 6 credits. May be taken with or without the lab.
Guided by faculty, students prepare a curriculum vitae and a teaching and design portfolio.
