Both programs lead to the same BSN degree and NCLEX-RN eligibility in approximately 16 months, but they serve different applicants. The ABSN is designed for individuals who hold at least an associate or bachelor’s degree in any non-nursing field. The Accelerated Transfer BSN is specifically built for students transferring in at least 60 college credits — including those who may have been waitlisted elsewhere or completed general education at a community college — and includes a HESI admissions exam requirement.

Both programs are designed for career changers entering nursing, but they differ in credential and career trajectory. The ABSN leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and prepares you for initial RN licensure. The Accelerated Transfer BSN program is based at Brenau University’s main campus in Gainesville, Georgia. The program combines online coursework with in-person nursing simulation labs and clinical rotations at affiliated healthcare facilities. Multiple start dates are available throughout the year to help you begin your nursing education on a timeline that works for you.

The Accelerated BSN (ABSN) is designed for students who already hold an associate degree or equivalent, or a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field, from a regionally accredited college or university.
